Insights Hub

The Insights Hub gives you deep analytics on campaign performance, tracks competitor pricing and stock changes, and lets you schedule automated reports. Understand your true profit per campaign, track TACOS vs ACoS, monitor competitor moves, and set anomaly alerts.

In this guide:

  • View true profit analytics and trends
  • Understand TACOS, Launch Payback, and Incrementality
  • Track competitor pricing and stock
  • Schedule and run performance reports
  • Set up anomaly alerts

Prerequisites

  • Permission: advertising_dashboard_basic to view; org:update_advertising for write operations (creating reports, watching competitors).

Step 1: Open the Insights Hub

Go to Advertising → Insights in the sidebar.

The Insights Hub opens with three tabs: Analytics, Competitor Watch, and Reports & Alerts.

Step 2: Analyze campaign performance (Analytics tab)

The Analytics tab shows your campaign performance metrics and trends.

True-profit overview

At the top, you see account-level KPIs:

  • Net Profit — net profit across all campaigns
  • Gross Profit — gross profit before expenses
  • Ad Cost — total ad spend in the period
  • Ad Sales — total attributed sales
  • Total Sales — total sales (attributed + organic)
  • TACOS — Total Advertising Cost of Sales (spend ÷ total sales)

These are reconciled between your campaign metrics and Hilal’s accounting system.

Per-campaign table

Below the KPIs, a sortable table shows each campaign’s metrics:

ColumnDefinition
CampaignCampaign name and type
Ad SpendAd spend in the period
PPC SalesAttributed sales from the campaign
OrdersNumber of attributed orders
ACOSSpend ÷ Sales
Ad ProfitProfit attributed to the campaign

Sort by any column to identify top performers or underperformers.

TACOS trend

View the TACOS Trend chart to see how your Total Advertising Cost of Sales changes over time. Use the Day/Week controls to adjust granularity. This helps you spot seasonality and trends.

Launch Payback

If you’ve launched new products or campaigns, the Launch Payback section shows:

  • Cohort selector: choose by Product SKU or launch date range
  • Payback line: projected break-even date based on current run-rate
  • Cumulative profit: shows when the campaign becomes profitable

Example: “This campaign launched 30 days ago and is projected to break even in 20 days at the current run-rate.”

Incrementality

The Incrementality chart shows estimated incremental sales (percentage) attributed to ads vs. organic. Use this to understand the true lift your ads are providing.

ℹ️
Incrementality estimates are based on non-branded sales classification, which is an approximation. Classification may be partial or heuristic-based. Some products may not have classification data available.

Conversion Diagnostics

The Conversion Diagnostics section analyzes campaign-level conversion rates against your organization’s median:

  • Campaign — the campaign being analyzed
  • CVR — the campaign’s conversion rate
  • vs. Median — how the campaign compares to your organization’s median conversion rate (shown as a percentage)
  • Recommended levers — suggestions for improving conversion (e.g., “increase bid to improve visibility”, “review targeting”)

Use this to identify campaigns underperforming relative to your account average.

Step 3: Monitor competitors (Competitor Watch tab)

The Competitor Watch tab tracks competitor pricing and stock changes.

Add a competitor

Click + Add Watch and enter a competitor ASIN. Hilal adds it to your watch list.

Configure watch triggers

For each watch, you can set independent alerts:

  • Alert on stock-out — toggle to receive alerts when the competitor goes out of stock
  • Alert on price hike — toggle to receive alerts when the competitor’s price increases
  • When triggered — select an action: Alert only, or Bid up (automatically increase bid in a specified campaign)

View latest observations

Each competitor card shows the most recent observation:

  • Current price — the latest observed price
  • Stock status — in stock or out of stock (binary state)
  • Last checked — timestamp of the last observation

Click Trend to view historical price movements and stock status changes over time.

Edit or delete

Click the edit icon to modify the watch configuration. Click delete to remove from watch list.

Use the data

Use competitor price changes to inform your own bid strategy and pricing. If a competitor raises prices, you might lower bids to reduce CPC.

Step 4: Schedule and run reports (Reports & Alerts tab)

The Reports & Alerts tab lets you schedule recurring performance reports and view past runs.

Create a scheduled report

  1. Click New report
  2. Name — give your report a name (e.g., “Weekly Performance”)
  3. Schedule — choose weekly or monthly frequency
  4. Report sections — select sections to include: True Profit, TACOS Trend, or Conversion Diagnostics
  5. Save

The report runs automatically on the schedule. You can view it in Hilal and export campaign data to XLSX.

View report runs

Click View runs to see historical report executions:

  • Period — the date range the report covers
  • Generated time — when the report was generated
  • Artifact viewer — open to see the report data
  • Export — export campaign data to XLSX

Anomaly alerts

The Anomaly Alerts section shows alerts for unusual patterns:

  • ACOS Spike — unexpected spike in ACoS above normal levels
  • Budget Exhaustion — campaigns exhausting their budgets
  • CTR Drop — unexpected drop in click-through rate
  • CVR Drop — unexpected drop in conversion rate

Each alert type has a counter; click to view and dismiss individual alerts.

Troubleshooting

  • “You need org:update_advertising permission” when creating a report. You can view reports but can’t create or schedule them. Ask your admin for the org:update_advertising permission.
  • Competitor card shows “Unable to fetch” price/stock data. Amazon’s product catalog may not have stock data available for that ASIN. Try a different product.
  • Launch Payback shows a very far break-even date. If a campaign has negative ROI, break-even will be far in the future. Consider optimizing (lower ACoS, higher sales).
  • Anomaly alerts fire every day. Adjust sensitivity (if available) to reduce noise. Contact support if alerts seem incorrect.
