Who is Product Research for?
The new Amazon seller doing first-round validation
You’ve decided to sell on Amazon; you have a couple of niche ideas; you want to validate before you commit dollars to inventory. You don’t know all the metrics that matter, you can’t tell from Helium 10 whether a niche is too saturated, and you’d rather not gamble.
What Product Research does for you: distills Helium-10-grade signal into a single SellerScore. Surfaces the warnings (“data quality: degraded — fee data unavailable”) so you don’t accidentally trust a flaky number. The AI brief gives you a sanity-check second opinion on every product before you order samples.
The established seller scouting the next product line
You already sell on Amazon — you have a brand, a fulfillment setup, and supplier relationships. You need your next product to fit that operation, not start a new one.
What Product Research does for you: filter by category, fulfillment channel (FBA-only / FBM-only / either), price band, and margin floor — so the SellerScore ranks across products that actually fit your existing setup. The watchlist + history pattern is built around a multi-week scouting cycle.
The brand manager / agency evaluating a category
You don’t have a horse in the race; a client is asking “should we expand into this category?” and you need a defensible answer.
What Product Research does for you: export-friendly results (PDF for the client deck, CSV for the spreadsheet model). Score reasoning that you can quote in your write-up. Adjustable sub-score weights to match the client’s priorities (“they care about margin more than demand”).
The internal Hilal Software ops team
You’re already running a Hilal Software–powered Amazon business; you’re using inventory, ads, and finances every day. Product Research is the upstream of that — figuring out what to launch next.
What Product Research does for you: lives inside the same workspace, scopes by the same marketplaces you’ve already configured, and feeds into the rest of the platform without an export round-trip. New products you find can be tracked, sourced, advertised, and reviewed in the same Hilal Software you’re already using.
Who Product Research is not for
- Sellers without an Amazon presence at all. Product Research is Amazon-first. eBay, Walmart, Etsy, Shopify-only DTC are not in scope.
- People wanting historical reports of products they already sell. That’s the rest of Hilal Software — Dashboard, Inventory, Advertising, Finances. Product Research is a forward-looking new-product tool.
- Bulk-mining of thousands of products programmatically. The credit model and the rate limits are sized for human-paced research, not automated scraping. (If you have a research-volume use case, contact us — we can talk about a custom plan.)
- Direct supplier negotiation / sourcing. The Coming-soon supplier discovery feature gets closer; today’s tool stops at “this product looks good — go talk to suppliers about it.”
