Notifications settings
This page is the local control surface for push notifications. The deeper coverage of what fires and what’s coming lives under Push notifications.
In this guide:
- Open Settings → Notifications
- Toggle channels
- Send a test push
- Deep-link to OS settings
Step 1: Open Settings → Notifications
Tap Settings → Notifications.
Step 2: Channels
Each channel can be toggled independently:
| Channel | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Account | On | Sign-in events, security warnings. |
| Note reminders | On | Local notifications you scheduled on a note. |
| Inbox | On | New buyer messages or chatbot conversations. |
| Amazon activity | On | Orders, listing changes, hijack alerts. Coming soon |
| Chatbot activity | On | Customer escalations, auto-updates, workflow status. Coming soon |
| System | On | Version updates, maintenance, OTA updates. |
Toggle a channel off if it’s noisy and you don’t need it; toggle on later if you change your mind.
Step 3: Send a test push
Tap Send test notification. Within a second or two, you should see a banner with “Hilal — Test notification” content.
Use this when:
- You first install the app (verify push works).
- You suspect notifications aren’t arriving (eliminate “is the channel even working?”).
- After granting/revoking permissions in OS settings (verify the change took effect).
Step 4: Deep-link to OS settings
Each channel has a small Open in iOS Settings / Open in Android Settings link. Tapping deep-links into your device’s notification settings for the Hilal app, where you can also configure per-channel sound, badge, and lock-screen behavior.
This is necessary for fine-grained control (e.g., “no sound on my Inbox channel, but sound on Hijack Alerts when they ship”) because OS-level settings override Hilal’s in-app toggles.
